1. AGM and England v Wales - 5th April

The AGM will be held from 13.00 to 15.00 Hanshi Steve Arneil and Liam Keaveney will have an informal chat with the Welsh instructors who are in attendance from 15.00 to 16.00 and the Grading Instructors Course will be 16.00 to 17.00. The England v Wales tournament, followed by a disco, will commence at 18.00 hrs. Venue: at Electricity Social and Welfare Club, Pontcanna House, Fields Park Road, Cardiff, CF11 9LB.

2. Kata Tournament – Chelmsford

The Kata Tournament was a fantastic success and thanks to all who contributed to the day – results are enclosed.

3. First Aid Course – 19th April

A Basic First Aid for Sport certificated course is being held by John Hunt on 19th April and is open to anybody going for a grading or wishing to up-date their current first aid qualification. Venue: Crawley Dojo (Visit www.multimap.com and enter postcode “RH10 5HP” – for location and directions) – from 10.00 am. Cost Ł20.00. 4. Open Knockdown Course – 20th April - K2 Crawley

Shihan David Pickthall will be holding an OPEN KNOCKDOWN COURSE, at K2, Crawley, West Sussex (www.k2crawley.com) on 20th April 11 am-3 pm, fee for BKK Members Ł5.00. Please email Shihan David to register for this course: david-pickthall@tiscali.co.uk.

5. Hanshi’s Junior and Cadet Course 20th April

Hanshi Steve Arneil will be holding his Juniors and Cadet Course on Sunday, 20th April, from 11:00 – 16:00 hrs at Shenley Leisure Centre, Burchard Crescent, Shenley Church End, Milton Keynes, MK5 6HF. Cost: Ł5.00 (Complementary drinks and snacks courtesy Milton Keynes Dojo). Dojo operators, instructors and parents should encourage students to attend this very important and valuable annual course with Hanshi Steve Arneil (9th Dan).

6. Black Belt Grading –– Crawley Dojo - 27th April

This year for the first time we are having a Kata Team Event at the England v Wales Tournament on 5th April. Please see posters sent out last month for details of squad training being held by Sensei Sunil Tailor. 7. Black Belt Grading –– Crawley Dojo - 27th April

The date for the next National Grading will be 27th April 2008 at Crawley Dojo (Visit www.multimap.com and enter postcode “RH10 5HP” – for location and directions). Please send your completed grading forms to Hanshi at least two weeks before the grading (published recently in revised format and available to download from the BKK Web Site – together with stamped addressed envelope as soon as possible). 8. Welsh Knockdown Coach

Sensei Mark Goodwin will be standing down as the Welsh Knockdown Coach after the AGM and our thanks for his hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. We would be grateful for applications to fill this post and in the first instance could you e- mail Hanshi Steve Arneil and Shihan Liam Keaveney if you would like to be considered for this position.

9. Knockdown Referees Course – Saturday 14th June

Shihan Alex Kerrigan (6th Dan) will be holding a Knockdown Referees course on 14th June, 11am to 3pm. Course Fee: Ł5.00, Exam: Ł5.00, Practical Assessment: Ł5.00 – these courses are for everyone wishing to improve their existing qualification, and also qualified referees refreshing their knowledge – Shihan Alex would like to point out that any official who has not officiated at a tournament over the last two years must attend a refresher course to be able to be a judge or referee. Venue: Milton Keynes Dojo, Warwick Road Activities Centre, Porchester Close, (Off Warwick Road), Far Bletchley, Milton Keynes, MK3 6BH. 10. Regional Knockdown Tournament – 21st June - Reading

The BKK’s Regional Knockdown Tournament will be held on Saturday, 21st June in Reading and full details will be sent out shortly.

11. Senior and Junior Summer Camp 13th to 17th August 2008

As last year, the Junior and Senior Summer Camps will run simultaneously at the same venue: Felsted School, Felsted, Essex, CM6 3LL. For seniors there will be dedicated Knockdown training sessions and much more! Camp commences lunchtime on Wednesday, 13th August till after breakfast on Sunday, 17th August. (4 nights). Training three times a day with top instructors led by Hanshi Steve Arneil (9th Dan). Cost for all the above inclusive of all meals, accommodation and the Sayonara Party - Ł195.00 Seniors and Ł119.00 Under 16’s. (Please note the age limit for Juniors is eight years and over). We hope to soon publish details of special dedicated courses being offered at camp – not least Hanshi’s special Kata Seminar and much much more!

12. National Knockdown Tournament – 4th October - K2 Crawley

The BKK’s National Open Knockdown Tournament will be held on Saturday, 4th October at K2 Crawley. Full details will be sent out shortly.

13. Dan Grade Qualifications

All instructors are advised to check with the current grading syllabus as to what the specific requirements are for people attempting Dan gradings - specifically qualifications relating to judging. In addition, grading forms should be received by Hanshi no later than ten days prior to the grading.
